Junction Media has been working with Alton-based Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental engineering consultancy, Ground and Water Limited to help it build on its already successful brand and grow its client base.
The relationship began in early 2017, when Alton-based JH Website Design and Development asked Junction Media to manage the content creation for a new website it was developing for the consultancy.
Our approach
Initial discussions with Ground and Water’s directors, identified the need to redefine who the business was, what its medium to longer term aims and ambitions were and to formalise a strategy to get it to where it wanted to be.
We worked with Ground and Water to look at its market, its competitors its strengths weaknesses and any opportunities that it could capitalise on. Ground and Water is a relatively young business, with a young, highly qualified and energetic team. A big strength is its ‘can do’ attitude and customer first culture. This was to become a dominant theme in the company messaging.
A much greater emphasis on corporate communications and marketing was another area that required focus. As well as wanting to reach out to new and existing clients, Ground & Water needed to attract talented Geoscientists to join its expanding team. It was decided the new website must be the primary hub to communicate its messages, so Junction Media worked with JH Website Design to incorporate a blog on the new website, case studies and a careers portal, with downloadable recruitment collateral. Central to pushing traffic to the information and messaging on the website was to place far more emphasis on the use of Ground & Water’s social media channels.
The outcome
Based on an agreed business development strategy, Junction Media wrote all the content for the new website, works with Ground and Water’s directors and team to create content for its blog and helps to produce a monthly client newsletter and other forms of communication.
Client feedback
Dipalee Jukes, a director at Ground and Water says the process was a valuable one: “We knew we needed to refresh the direction of the business, having grown organically since our launch thanks to our well established and loyal client base. The new website was a given, but we are so busy that finding the time to look at all the communications and marketing requirements of a business development plan was always going to be difficult. Peter Shakespeare at Junction Media helped us to focus on this and delivered what we needed. We are geologists, not word smiths, so his journalistic experience helps us to communicate our messages in a far more professional manner.”
“Peter also helped us to project manage the new website, which went live in October. He has gained a good understanding of our business and industry and we have been impressed with the insight and quality of the blog posts he writes. While early days; the results from the blogs, renewed social media activity and newsletters have been good. We have had enquiries from several clients we hadn’t heard from for a while and we are getting an increase in calls from new clients, looking for the Geoenvironmental and Geotechnical consultancy services we provide.”
